My Grandma's Homemade Split Pea Soup Recipes

This Delicious Split-Pea Soup Recipe was given by my beloved Grandma. It's taste Great! You Lunch and dinner will be perfect with this nice comfort soup :)You know, pea is small but nutritionally is a very good source of cholesterol-lowering fiber. They are not only can help in lower cholesterol, they can also managing blood-sugar disorders since their high fiber content prevents blood sugar levels from rising rapidly after a meal. Ingredients Well, for ingredients you shall prepare for 1 tablespoon of olive oil, half of onion (diced), 2 cloves of garlic (minced), 2 carrots (peeled and diced), 2 celery (diced), 1 potato (peeled and diced), 1 pound of ham steak (diced), 8 cups of chicken stock, 1 package of dried split peas (1 pound - rinsed), Seasoning : 1 bay leaf, salt and pepper to taste. The Making Prepare a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Saute onion until soft. Add in garlic and ham, cook for about 1 minute. Add in stock, split peas, seasoning to taste, cook for 2 hours over medium heat. Add in carrots, celery and potatoes, cover and cook for another half an hour until the veggies are tender. Discard bay leaf. If you prefer thicker soup, you can mix with an immersion blender for awhile. Yummy!!
