Split Pea and Ham Soup

This is the Best Split Pea & Ham Soup that i ever tried. This soup is very easy making. I like my soup a little thicker, so I added an extra half bag of peas. Ingredients Well, you shall prepare for 1 cup of peeled and chopped onion, 1 carrot (peeled and chopped), 1 tsp of vegetable oil, 1 lb of dried split peas, 1 lb of ham bone. Seasoning : salt and pepper to taste. The Making Firstly, prepare a medium pot, heat oil, saute onion, carrot and bacon grease. Remove the pot from heat. Add split peas, ham bones or chopped ham. Add enough water to cover all ingredients and add seasoning to taste. Cover the lid and cook for 2 hours until all peas are turn into liquid. Aware of the water while cooking, ensure the water is enough after evaporated. You shall add more water and continue to cook. Remove from heat, lets the soup stand and it will be thickened. Once thickened, heat through and serve.
