Onion Soup Recipe

The important tip for preparation of this Onion Soup-Recipe is, while browning the onions, the heat must be taken care to avoid burning of the onions. Try this soup. Awesome!

Ingredients

Well, you shall prepare for 3 lbs of Vidalia onions (peeled and sliced thinly), 6 tablespoons of butter, 2 tablespoon of canola oil, 3 cloves of garlic (chopped), 1 tablespoon of white sugar, 1/2 cup of all purpose flour, 8 cups of chicken broth, 2 teaspoons of ground thyme leaves, 3 bay leaves, 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper, 1.5 cup of dry white wine.

For garnishing, you shall prepare for 1 loaf of French bread (sliced thinly), 1 cup of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese (mixed) and 2 tablespoons of fresh parsley (minced).

The Making for onion soup recipe

Firstly, prepare a soup pot, melt butter and saute onions over medium-low heat for about half an hour. Cook the onions until brown. Be careful of the heat, don't burn the onions.

Meanwhile, place the cheese mixture on each sliced bread and put into the oven with 350 degree and bake until the cheese is bubbly. Take care of it to avoid from burned. Set aside.

After half and hour, add garlic and sugar to the onions and cook for another 10 minutes. Sprinkle flour over the onion and stirring, to make a roux. Add in beef broth, stir frequently until the soup is thickened. Add in thyme, bay leaf and pepper, bring to simmer over low heat for another half an hour.

Keep on stirring while simmering. Remove from heat, add dry white wine, discard bay leaf.

For serving, put 1 slice of baked bread with cheese in the bottom of a bowl and pour a ladle of hot soup over the top. Sprinkle with parsley if desired. We are done :)
