Ham and Bean Soup

This Ham & Bean Soup was cooked by my Grandma since i was in my teenage age. This warming soup is excellent and easy making. This soup have a lot of vegetables. Great! Ingredients Well, for ingredients, you shall prepare for 1 pound of dried great Northern beans, 8 cups of water, 1 ham hock, 1 cup of carrots (peeled and chopped), 1/2 stalk celery (chopped), 1 cup of onions (peeled and chopped), 1 tsp of minced garlic, 1 tsp of mustard powder, 2 bay leaves, 2 cups of ham (chopped), 1/2 tsp of ground white pepper, 1/2 tsp of salt The Making Rinse the bean. Prepare a large pot, place in the beans and cover with 8 cups of water, bring to boil over high heat. Add in salt. Remove the pot from heat and let it sit in hot water for at least 1 hour. After 1 hour, return the pot to high heat and add in carrot, bones, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, mustard and bay leaves. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for about another 1 hour. Stir occasionally. Discard ham bone. Stir in chopped ham and simmer for another half an hour. Season with ground white pepper to taste.
