Easy Making French Onion Soup Recipe

This French Onion Soup Recipe is very easy making. It's taste great! The important tips of cooking this soup is the soup stock must be good in quality. Normally, i will use beef stock, the taste will be more flavorful. I made the beef stock by leftover rib and chine bones of a rib roast. The process for brown the onions are also very important, you shall take care of the heat and avoid the onion from burning. Ingredients (6 servings)Well, for ingredients, you shall prepare for olive oil, 6 large onions (peeled and sliced thinly), 1/4 tsp of sugar, 2 cloves garlic (peeled & minced), 8 cups of chicken stock or beef stock, 1/2 cup of dry white wine or dry vermouth, 1 bay leaf, 1/4 tsp of dry thyme, 8 slices of toasted French bread, 1.5 cups of grated Swiss Gruyere with some grated Parmesan Cheese. Seasoning : Salt and pepper to taste. The Making Prepare a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium high heat, saute onions for about 30 minutes until browned but not burned . Add in sugar and cook for another 10 minutes. Then, add in garlic and saute for another 1 minute. Pour in stock, vermouth or wine, thyme, bay leaf. Cover the lid and simmer for about half an hour. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Discard bay leaf. For serving, you can use individual oven-proof soup bowl or 1 large casserole dish. Ladle the soup into the bowls or casserole dish. Cover with the toast and sprinkle with the cheese on top. Put into the broiler at 350 degree F for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese bubbles. Serve hot.
